Panagia Kanala of Kythnos
A special settlement, as it is built on the pine-covered beach of Megali Ammos. The church of Panagia Kanala is the one that gave its name to the settlement Kanala. Every year the faithful visit Panagia Kanala to worship her miraculous icon. In fact, on the 15th of August, a big festival takes place in the area of Kanala in honor of the Virgin Mary.
The port of Merichas in Kythnos
Merichas is one of the natural ports of Kythnos and our Cyclades in general, due to its configuration. It is the first place you see when you arrive in Kythnos, because the ships depart from Lavrio and Piraeus and drop their anchor here. Everything you need right after your arrival on the island is at your feet, such as shops, bank, pharmacy, taverns and bars.
Loutra of Kythnos

Kolona beach of Kythnos
One of the most famous beaches of Kythnos with a golden sandy beach and at the same time characteristic, as it is bathed by the sea on both sides. The landscape around it creates unforgettable images. The length of Kolona reaches 240 meters and just opposite of the beach you will find the rocky islet of Agios Loukas. The sunsets are enchanting with their orange and red colors extending before the eyes of the bathers.
Chora of Kythnos
Chora of Kythnos is a village that is characterized by its purity and simplicity. The houses, you will find there, are white with blue colors on the doors and windows. The white alleys will enchant you, as well as the taverns for food or the bars for your drinks. Two of the churches worth visiting, close enough to Chora, are those of St. Sava and St. Sotiros Church. The first one is the oldest church in Chora, while the second one will impress you with its wood-carved iconostasis.
Dryopida of Kythnos
One of the most traditional villages of Kythnos with special beauty. Its characteristic feature is that all the houses have tiled roofs, making the village very picturesque. The nearest beaches you can choose for your dives are Zogaki, Kouri, Agios Stefanos, Ai Giannis, Naoussa, Kalo Livadi and Liotrivi. If you love history, you can visit the Folklore, Byzantine and Agricultural Museum, which are also located in the area of Dryopida.
Katafyki Cave in Kythnos
It is located in Dryopida and is one of the most important monuments of Kythnos and one of the largest caves in the Cyclades Islands. Young and old want to cross it along its entire length, which reaches 600 meters. The temperature of the cave is stable at 17oC, while is located at an altitude of 190 meters. Don’t miss the opportunity to visit it.
Vryokastro of Kythnos
Vryokastro is one of the most important parts of Cycladic Culture and at the same time an attraction, as the ancient capital of Kythnos was walled and stretched there, in an area of about 300 acres. In the area of Vryokastro the only thing left is the foundations of temples, caves and the ruins of the old market. Excavations are still ongoing and will shed more light on the city’s history.
